Mandawa

Our first leg of our Rajasthan adventure was to Mandawa, we were using it as a stop over as our destination of Bikaner was a good 10 hours from Delhi. It was also our first experience of the roads outside the city. We put some songs on through the cars sound system and watched the shacks and houses of Delhi give way to the dry and dusty plains of Rajasthan.

As we drove further in to Rajasthan we began to see more and more cows and goats all over the roads and plenty of oversized trucks.

We arrived in to Mandawa during the early afternoon and after checking into a hotel we had a tour of the town. We looked round a couple of havelis (houses with a court yard in the middle) which were all beautifully decorated with artwork of elephants and Hindu gods.

After the tour we had some dinner with our driver at the hotel. Sunny brought out a bottle of rum after the meal and we proceeded to finish the bottle and get to know our driver a little better. After the bottle of rum we went back to our room and relaxed a while before going to bed.
